Terms of Service
The house rules for Skylanes: what you can do with it, what we promise, and what happens if a plane goes sideways.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or playing Skylanes, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Skylanes is published by Row1 LLC ("we", "us").
2. The game
Skylanes is a route-claiming strategy board game for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. You can play solo against the computer, pass a single device around a table, connect nearby devices over Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi, play turn by turn inside Messages, or match online through Apple's Game Center. No account is required to play.
3. Price and purchases
Skylanes is free. If we ever offer optional paid content or an optional subscription, it will be sold through the Apple App Store and billed by Apple under the App Store's terms, and any prices, renewals, and refunds will be governed by Apple's policies. We will describe any such option in the app before you buy.
4. Fair play and acceptable use
Skylanes is meant to be fun. When you use it, you agree not to:
- tamper with, exploit, or attempt to disrupt online or nearby matches for other players;
- use automated tools or bots to interfere with the game;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code, artwork, map data, or assets, except where the law expressly permits it;
- copy, redistribute, or resell the app or its artwork, map, or text; or
- harass other players through any connected mode.
5. Intellectual property
The Skylanes name, logo, game board, artwork, map, card designs, and written content are original works owned by Row1 LLC and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to install and play Skylanes on devices you own or control for your own enjoyment. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
6. An original game
Skylanes is an original game with its own branding, artwork, map, cards, and text. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any airline, airport, or travel brand. Real hub cities and IATA codes appear only for identification and geographic reference. Route traffic rankings referenced in the game and on this site are drawn from publicly published passenger data.
7. Third-party services
Online and Messages play rely on services provided by Apple, including Game Center and Messages. Your use of those services is governed by Apple's terms in addition to these. We are not responsible for the availability or behavior of Apple's services.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
Skylanes is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the game will be uninterrupted, error free, or that matches will always connect. You play at your own enjoyment.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Row1 LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Skylanes. Because Skylanes is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is zero, or ten United States dollars, whichever is greater.
10. Privacy
Your use of Skylanes is also covered by our Privacy Policy. In short, the app collects no personal data and requires no account.
11. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
